First off I would like to give major respect to the people who run Guardian Angels. That website is simply....I cant put words to how great it is.
Now, im not sure if you are wondering or not how I arrived to GA and this board, but I will tell you anyway. ^_^
I, along with legions of other people, played Xenogears. When it released in '98, I got my hands on it a week or so after it had came out. The catch was the fact that I didn't own that copy nor the playstation itself at the time. My friend had decided to let me borrow the console and game, cause he didn't find interest in Xenogears. Yeah, major moron, ne? Why did he buy it then? Anyway, I started playing the game. I have been playing RPG's since the mid 80's and have never found a game that had sucked me into it like Xenogears did. I couldn't get enough of the game at all. I found myself playing it constantly the whole day, glued to the television monitor. I don't think I have to say more, I believe everyone here knows how I felt. Upon completion of the game, I had given it back to my friend. He was a year ahead of me then graduated and moved out of country.
After playing the game, I tried real hard to keep my mind off of it. The force was not with me at all. I was having withdrawals so to speak. XD The way my financial situation was at that time, I couldn't get my hands on a Xenogears copy or a Playstation. Eventually the next year I got the PS, and a legion of RPG's because my new work paid me well. All those RPG's and I didn't have my favorite one, Xenogears. I couldn't find it anywhere, and no one wanted to sell their copy. I mean, how can you blame them? Ebay, Best Buy, Electronics Boutique, Babbages, Funcoland, etc, none of them had it in my town or the nearby cities. Once, I even went to Square's official buying site. I saw it there for something around 65 dollars. I didn't have my credit card and when I came back later, it wasn't there no more. =( I believe it was my location which put me at a disadvantage in properly locating the game. =( I basically sulked every time I remembered Xenogears. I believe only the people here could truly understand how badly I wanted that game. It was bad, until today.
For the heck of it, I called up some nearby game speciality stores. They had a brand spanking new Xenogears copy, mint condition, wrapped, the works. I drove about 95 MPH to the store, which was around 10 miles away. I got the game in my hands and went ecstatic, and that's an understatement. All the game experts there knew that it was a rare game as well. I had to drop 50 bucks, but who cares? Now, I should be playing the game, unfortunately, my Technician job keeps me away from it tonight. When I got to work, I decided to go online and check out Xenogears websites for fun. It is then when I stumbled upon the amazing GA site. I had located this site before in the past, but came back again today.
From the link on the GA site, I arrived here and registered immediately. I plan on being a regular to the site and the message board. I hope no one here minds having a 21 year old RPG junkie around. =) Now, EB and Playstation are selling the game online again. That's only two that I know of from my searching around the web today. I cant wait for Xenosaga, Namco seems to be doing a great job on the development so far. Don't know if it can impact me as much as its predecessor.
By the way, I wasnt sure which forum to post this in since I was commending GA and at the sametime talking general about Xenogears. I apologize ahead of time for any inconvinience.

What an amazing story. I can totally relate. I actually had to go out of the country to acquire my (used... *sniff*) copy of Xenogears. I'm glad you had a happy ending (except for the not-being-able-to-play-it-enough-yet part)

Hey, welcome to the board. I'm technically a newbie myself (I just joined in July... and I already have over 200 posts... huh... I really don't have a life, do I?), but I was here before you, so I still get to do the "welcoming" thing. I also get to push you around. Sure, I'm younger than you, but I've been here longer, and them's the rules. Sorry, but I don't make 'em (it's probably written somewhere in the FAQ's, I'm sure...), I just follow 'em.

Welcome, newbie. ^.^ You've come to the right place, and your post isn't out of line, so don't worry. The GA board is for GA-related discussion, but also a place to talk about Xenogears in general, and anything related to it. We're pretentious enough to think that we're more philosophical than the rest of the board, but once you get used to that...

Thanks everyone for the welcome.
I wonder if anyone has noticed this or not, but in the Xenogears instruction manual they have something weird. I was flipping through the pages a few days back when I noticed it. On page 30 I believe, there is a listing of deathblows for the characters. Fei's Koho is listed there but in the game screen below it, it is not listed as Koho, but as something else. I think it was Taro or Tara, something along those lines, I cant recall right now. Whats up with that? Translation, different version of the game perhaps? O_o
By the way, I had a question about this board in general. I am not new to message boards themselves, but to this board I am. I was wondering if this board was part of a community of many other boards, sort of like Ezboard or UBB, or was it independant? See, I do a Star Wars RP at Ezboard, dont know if you are familiar with it or not. Anyway, I have my own board there, but Ezboard is very volatile. They delete usernames out of the blue and sometimes whole boards. I need to find a better place to have a board. If this is independant then you got any ideas where I can look? If I should post this somewhere else, just let me know.
