In your opinion, what was Square's best job in all of their games? Mine of course is Xenogears. I need to find that game again...

my personal favorite is Xenogears, for all the reasons listed in the posts below. I also enjoy Chrono Cross (which i believe to be square's highest-quality {production values-wise} game as of yet), Chrono Trigger and FF7.
ahhh, and of course FFT :)
It is fairly hard to judge though; i have yet to come across a game by squaresoft that's actually bad. well.....theres the bouncer.....lol
but i meant RPGS :). its so hard to choose among square games, in fact sometimes i get so spoiled by playing such GOOD games that I have to pop in my burned copy of 'Shadow Madness' just to pull myself back to reality.....

Squaresoft's best work?
Definitely Xenogears. The game is like reading an excellent novel, only better cuz it's got anime movie sequences. ^_^ Second is Final Fantasy Tactics. Sure it was a bit like Tactics Ogre, but it was a hundred times better, especially the storyline. Third is a tie between Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. I think Chrono Cross is a better game, but Trigger was so original when it first came out you have to give it extra credit.
Oh yeah, and Parasite Eve gets the honorable mention. The first one, not the second one (which was a pretty good game, but was NOT a roleplaying game).

I thought that the anime parts were pretty simple. The dubs were funny

Well, the anime scenes were somewhat simple. And the dubbing was not so much funny as horribly and totally out of sync with mouth movements.
But the character design was unbelievable, the battle system was cool, and the storyline was awesome.

Hmmm...hard to say...
If I had to choose one, it would have to be Final Fantasy 3.

TC I agree with you there Chrono Trigger is by far the best Square work to date (obviously Xenogears is my fav game, hence the name) but Chrono trigger was an inspiration to square designers. from the day Chrono trigger bcame a hit Squares products became much better than the crappy FF3,and FF2 that is why Chrono Trigger has to be the best Square work of all time!

Not necessarily. I consider FF7 to be Square's best work but it isn't my favorite Square game. :)

Thanks for calling me an innocent little girl, but it seems I am older than most everyone around here except DarkDeus.
At my age, you appreciate being called a little innocent. :P

How off subject...Oh well! Squares best work is easily Final Fantasy IV. It was the first one I played and I noticed that the storyline is much better than some of the...Ok,all of the newer games. Except Final Fantasy Tactics, which comes in a close second.

Pretty much I like them all except the games in which they get "cute" aka ff9, Chrono Cross, legend of mana, etc.
Overall FF7 strictly because of the materia system.
