Topic Title: FF Tactics rocks da world.

It's true. I love FFT so much.
I dunno' what brought that on. I was in the shower last night, and all of a sudden I started thinking about FF Tactics. Ain't that weird? Now FFT is mentioned in that Squaresoft opinions post, and now I'm thinking about it even more. FF Tactics was brilliant. I loved it so much.
Why? Let me count the ways.
WARNING. Spoilers follow!
1. The music. Gawd, but it was beautiful.
2. The storyline was, in my opinion, one of the best and most daring of an RPG.
You could say the primary plot was the heroes against the evils of the Church. The corruption of the government allied with the inner darkness of the Church, bringing untold evil to the land. Truly a controversial idea to mold an RPG over. The only one that touched that idea was Xenogears.
(Hey... both Xeno & FFT were never released in PAL countries. Could this be why...? Although, there was also Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon, but...)
3. The relationships. The homo-erotic tender relationship between Ramza & Delita was tear-rendering sweet. Oh, but I felt for those two. Delita's character was soSO tragic. He's still one of my absolute favourite RPG characters.
4. Chocobo's were the ENEMY. What was more horrific than a random battle against an entire squadron of Yellow, Blue & Red Chocobo's? One hit could KILL YOU, fer krissakes!
5. Women.
By GOD but women ruled this game.
The Holy Knight AGRIAS OAKS was cool absolut. She was magnificent. She was ultimate. She was glory. Agrias is the greatest female RPG character in the history of the genre. Did Agrias become the love-interest? HELL NO!! Agrias went off and rescued her Princess, dammit. Armed with an Excalibur & a Chaos Blade, Agrias made GOD Himself crawl up his own foreskin in terror. She is a true POWER PU$$Y and I continue to worship her. Hell, I even added her to my PP page so many years ago. Go there. Go there NOW.
Then there's sweet LAFA (or RAFA. Whatever.). Many people hate her, but with a title like HEAVEN KNIGHT, how could you not be in awe at this "exotic mage"? The poor thing witnessed the slaughter of her village, was raised and abused by some fat ba$tard, and was almost killed by her own beloved brother when she came out with it. That has gotta' hurt. Poor POOR thing.
...and sure, she was a crap playable character. But I built her up. In every fight, I used a BRAVERY PLUS spell on her. Do you know what BRAVERY does? The higher the Bravery, the harder you hit. After a few fights of up-ing it as far as it could go, her BRAVERY began to permanantly rise. Soon LAFA had a Bravery quota of 99. Yes. 99. LAFA was the strongest character in my whole party. She was unstopable. NO-ONE survived an encounter with LAFA. She was unto a hurricane. She carved destruction in her wake.
...THEN I made her a Samurai. Armed with the ultimate Genji armour, she was untouchable. Using the duplication trick, she also had 99 Masamune's to play with. Fighting an enemy? This is LAFA. One hit = dead. Fighting MANY enemies? This is LAFA. Walks right into 'em and MASAMUNE's their @$$es. All dead. And after I found the ultimate kitana, the Chukymojio... Chikamukayoji... Chikrakiwajomi... oh, I dunno' WHAT it's called. Either way, in my game of FFT, LAFA was death incarnate. My sweet lil' Heaven Knight found the strength to survive, and by God did she learn to VENT.
And then there was REIS.
...now: How many blonde bombshells do you know, that can burn you to the bone with just her breathe? REIS is formerly of DRAGON, my friend, and turning human didn't take away her Drago-might. Sure, she was hooked up with a lame-@$$ chemist wanabe with a patch of stupid hair growing on his chin, but once she dumps that loser, we're talking raw Power Pu$$y here, people. Go, Reis! Burn that Chocobo to doggy-chow! BBQ his @$$! You GO, sister!
MELIADOUL was pretty cool, but she joined you party WAY too late. Her skills were kinda' old, what with old-fart Orlandu & Agrias.
And then there's good ol' St Ajora. Turns out everyone's favourite Jesus stand-in was a sister all along. And ultimate Dark Angel Ajora? Sexy as. Who doesn't dig Silver hair & head wings?
Leaving the best to last:
CELIA & LEDE. These two were unholy demon assassins, fer crying out loud. Talk about cool! They were so powerful, they could get away with being mistaken for Dancer class. Celia & Lede rocked. 1-hit kill? HA! WHo could stand up to 'em? Don't forget the coolest aspect of these two twin goddesses... one word: ULTIMA.
Face it. Women OWN FF Tactics. The fact that it is considered (by me) to be one of the very BEST RPG's in Square history, only sweetens the deal.
...wow. Long post.
Oh well. Some things just have to be said.
FF TACTICS:
Brilliant plot.
Glorious music.
Agrias is divine.
Lafa is death incarnate.
Reis bur~rrrrrrrns.
Celia & Lede? They wouldn't even notice they'd killed you.

Hell yes, FFT is what gave me faith in Squaresoft again after the lacking FF7 and the absolutely horrible clawing-my-eyeballs-out-like-in-Event-Horizon FF8. I know FFT was released earlier, I just didn't get to play it until after the non-existent (I REFUSE TO BELIEVE IT EXISTS!@##@!) FF8 was (not) released.
A couple of things:
Agrias truly rocks when you get her to join permanently... however, as soon as you get Orlandu, she becomes redundant because he has every sword technique in the game, including hers, and he also outclasses her in every other aspect. =\
Bravery only increases the success rate of your character's reaction ability (like Counter Tackle, Blade Grasp, Hamedo). The success rate of your reaction ability is:
bravery (divided by) constant = success %
the constant depends on the reaction ability equipped: for Hamedo, it's either 3 or 4, which is why Hamedo is only the ultimate reaction in THEORY, in practice, it doesn't kick in often enough to be worthwhile.
For Blade Grasp, the constant is 1. That means your bravery is directly translated into the success %. 99% evade physical anyone?
Faith is a double edged blade. It represents your belief in the God(s?), and therefore, your belief in the effect of its(their) manifestations. Consequently, the higher your faith is, the more damage your spells will do. On the other hand, you will also receive more damage from spells yourself. That's why Worker7 is nearly immune to spells, his Faith is 0 (he's a robot after all).
You CAN boost Faith just like you can boost Bravery. There's a mediator skill that can do it (it works the same: 4 temporary points, 1 permanent). There's also a mediator skill that can tame chocobos and other wild monsters if their HP is low enough.

Want an untouchable team? Boost everyone's Bravery past 90, and give them all Blade Grasp for their reaction ability, and equip them with Aegis Shields and the best cloaks/mantles (accessories)
The mantles and Aegis Shields will give you a 90% magic evade and about 50% for physical evade.
The enemies have 50% of hitting you at first, and then they still have to go through your 90%-some Blade Grasp. Your characters basically untouchable physically. And the 90% magic evade also makes you hard to hit with spells.
Try a monk with Two Swords (hit twice), Concentrate (never miss). If you level the character as a monk he'll gain some attack power every level, and level him as a ninja too so he gets more natural speed. The ultimate melee fighter (fast and does 500+ damage x2).

AHAHAH! I'm glad you liked it! :) It's one of my favorite games.
After all this time, I STILL have a love/hate obsession with Delita and I agree with you about the relationship with Ramza.
Hell, I agree with your whole damned post. Agrias is a GODDESS!
And I have a Ramza/Delita shrine too. It's just needs to be updated PRONTO. Heh

hmm
Agrias was okay... I was about level 30 when she joined me (at her level 11), but since my party was aching for a female presence (especially after that ugly fook with ugly name Mustadio left the air filled with bad smell and aftertaste), I took the couple of hours to level her up to the "level of others"...
And my friend Kaz is a great fan of this game (he actually insisited I try it out)... He suggested couple of things (like getting everyone blade grasp, making them imune to physic atttacks, etc)... Hmm.. Now to think of it, all my characters (except Orlandu) had mastery of most of the classes... Hehe, my party was sooo godly.... And calculator owns YOU! ;)
What's cool about FFT, is that the end is... original... I mean, it' snot your typical RPG ending.. heh....
Oh, and half of the game's staff is Russian too, so it's all good for me.. Good game...
Best Regards Kostjan

Really? I didn't know. But Jen is absolutely right - FF Tacctics is godly, as much as Agrias. I love her design! ^^ And I love dancers and female monks, too! But, um, Jen, you are hardcore if you managed to get the Genji armor - I had no patience to fight that Elmdor for 5 time (he kept killing me anyway...yeah, I can't fight *buuuhuuu!*). *returns to her Lunar2...*

I heard somewhere that one guy sold his for $100.00 on ebay.
The game is far more valuable to me than that I wish you the best of luck trying to find it Fombo. No person should be deprived of FFT for any reason.

But the more bravery you have, the less faith you have...
Wait a minute...Faith!?
Anyway,my favorite party member was this guy named Hogan. I had him when I started the game and he never died. Anyway,by the time I got to deep dungeon,Hogan had mastered every class. So,I made him knight class...And used charge+5 on an enemy...And...Well...Let's just say...OUCH...

I don't think that Faith is reduced when your Bravery rises. That's just the ratio when you buy Soldiers. (heh-heh... I love the meat market. I make the lil' Squires stand in a line, and I eye them up & down. I buy whatever meat will serve me best.)
Er... anyway; When you up the Bravery number artificially, using skills and whatnot, the Bravery slowly begins to rise permanantly.
For example, Lafa has 32 Bravery. I up that number to 99 in a random fight. When the fight is over, her permanant Bravery number is now 36. I just keep up-ping her Bravery to 99 in each fight, and soon 99 will be Lafa's permanent Bravery stat.
Faith remains relatively unaffected. Besides, all Faith does is rise the odds of Magic effectiveness. If you throw magic, it's more likely to hit. If you get hit by Magic, the less likely it will hit you.
Besides, my characters couldn't care less about Faith. It's easier to walk up and kill in one sword whack, rather then rely on Magic. They don't care if they're hit by magic either. Usually, the enemy won't live long enough to try.
My party always consister of Ramza, Orlandu, Agrias, Lafa & Reis. Enemies never stood a chance. Lafa could kill a boss in 1 round with 2 Masamune's in her hands.

P.S. Yeah, I use a Gameshark, but not in the way you think. I use a non-depletable JP cheat. That means I still have to earn Job Points, but they don't disapear if I spend them.

Faith also improves your chances of getting better items when you are using move-find. In fact, a LOW brave stat affects that as well. But, of course, if Brave gets lower than 10... you get a DANGER message at the end of a battle, which means your characters may leave the party due to cowardice. And a really high faith causes that as well.
Have you ever finished a game in a real, hardworking, and legal way Jen?

Every single one I have.
... until I win. Then it's Gameshark time.
Exception: FF8. I played 1st time with all the codes I could find with that one. That way, I could focus on the story & characters.

...huh?
I don't get it. How have I contradicted myself? It's pretty straightforward. I play all games without codes; then whenever I play it again, I use codes. In FFT, I played it with the JP code I mentioned.
Pretty clear, ne?
...and how is that JP code "unclean"?
