Okay, now that the arrr-pig (har! get it? "arrr-pig", instead of RPG... 'cause I'm saying RPG as a word, instead of as individual letters!?! HAR! I so funny...) forum is working again, I'll try to re-post the questions I had about Tales of Phantasia and Destiny (with a few ToP spoilers...). A-HEM!:

1) I have the ToP ROM (incredible graphics for an SNES game... possibly better than CT, even...), and I was enjoying it up to a certain point... then the characters got sent back in time. It was an interesting concept at first, but it's slowly getting tiring. It seems like I've still got a long way to go, but the only thing I seem to have to do is beat the main bad guy. Unlike other RPG's, there don't seem to be any mysteries, no characters in my party with unknown pasts, really nothing but the main plot device of "find main bad guy, stop him, save world."
Does the game get better, or is it just more of this? Are there any plot twists coming up (I haven't played that much after getting sent back in time, if you want to know where I am...) that I can look forward to, or just more hours of boredom...? Basically, should I keep playing?

2) Tales of Destiny. I saw it at Blockbuster for rent last week, and I was thinking of renting it, but then I realised I hadn't heard much about it, and it could be bad... so I rented Persona 2, instead. Anyhoo, I plan on renting another game this week, and I just wanted to know... is Tales of Destiny worth it? Should I pick it up and give it a shot? I'm really just looking for a game with a good story, so let me know if ToD has one...

-Surtur sucked at Persona 2... he died at the first boss... but the anime scenes were pretty ...

TOP has all the things nessary to be a good RPG, The story is decent for most SNES or old style games but one thing destroys the game:

RANDOM COMBATS ARE WAY TO COMMON!!!

This is from a man that currently is going through the bable tower with Cecil at 50th level.... This would be the FIRST time up that tower too!

Or was he 60th....

Seriously, unless you can stand alot of random encounters to get to the real game, don't play it, they should have doubled the XP, and cut the encounters to 1/3 to 1/4.

Well, I didn't really mind the random encounters thus far (of course, that could have had something to do with the tab button feature on SNES9x...), but if the story gets better, than maybe I'll try playing again...

-Surtur doesn't even remember where he last saved...

Well, I didn't play Tales of Destiny for a very long time, anyway: the battle system and the game mechanics are basically the same as in Tales of Phantasia. There is a nice anime intro, too.

Eh, that's all I can tell you about it

Work sucks! Copic rules!
