So yeah, uh, FFX's OST doesn't seem to suck.

acutally, the battle theme from before was not the actual battle theme. Oops.

The actual battle theme is probably the best it's been since 6.

Go fig.

Otherworld, on the other hand, is... well it's messed up. Scary.

Oh well, so it's not bad. I haven't decided whether it's Mitsuda good, but it *is* good so far.

Edit:
Disc 1 Track 5 - Otherworld by Nobuo Uematsu

Wer zu Lebzeit gut auf Erden
wird nach dem Tod ein Engel werden

that's what it reminds me of... or maybe Quake II.

Edit2: Uh, those of you who think that Uematsu has lost it, here's another track:

Disc 1 Track 19 - The Sight of Spire -by Nobuo Uematsu & Masashi Hamauzu

I take back what I said about the samples. Some of them suck, but this one is freakin' awesome ala Chrono Cross :) (I'm a sucker for guitar)

Otherworld is very "powerful". I like it. Anyway I can't understend where it will be placed in the game (the battle theme?).
The sight of Spira is a "classic" FF song, very "relaxing".
Anyway when you fight is far better, according to me, Otherworld.
The Vg music is changing...

-Fombo-

To be or not to be that is the question...

...but we have no power to choose it.

I'm 99.9% sure cd2 track 11 'blitz-off' is the theme for the blitzball game. when you play it as a subgame anyway.
otherworld I'm betting is an fmv thing when tidus is owning everyone in blitzball though.. but I'm just speculating

Hmmm...while the Otherworld sounds neat, it's not quite to my tastes, so I don't think it will be one of my faves. Heh

But it's a good example and I think it will a good overall soundtrack...

As a matter of fact, I think this will be a VERY good game! :D

Guess that means I'll end up with a PSX2. heheh

hehe at the moment the whole thing is mitsuda-good to me :) well, apart from a few tracks that bore me or just plain aren't my type of thing, this soundtrack just seems so fresh and unique, especially compared to what I expected :) then again TC has already pointed out some similarities to other composers that I wouldn't have a clue about so maybe it's not _that_ unique :) nevertheless, this soundtrack a great surprise to me really. I still gotta listen alll the way through it properly but I've heard it enough so far :) like, 95% of it. great ost I think.. has potential to be the very best (for me) if it stands the test of time and doesn't get boring quickly.

Absolutely... this maybe the first soundtrack that will rise up to FF6 level (though, I'll have to hear it with the game to decide if it's that good :)

Nobuo has transformed some of his music styling to the outer limits. I had to keep reminding myself that it was his work and not a heavy metal band with a long haired freak wearing leather pants from the 80's playing Otherworld. I am so hyped that he has chosen to take the opportunity to take RPG music to the next level.

The Sight of Spira is reminiscent of FF6; it at least uses the melody from another FF, I think. So for those who do not like change, this song is better for you. You can always turn the sound down when Otherworld begins to play. ^.^

(hamauzu and uematsu collaborated on 'the sight of spira' as well as I think all the 'song of prayer' tracks on the ost, and maybe a few others)

In the Otherworld song are they speaking German? If so, does anyone know the translation of the lyrics, because I don't speak German.

German, it sounds like barnyard animals.

I don't speak German. But due to the fact that I am not akin to Heavy Metal, I don't understand the words. It also relates to the song sounding like barnyard animals that threw me off. Can you tell me what they are saying?

Well given that the game isn't even out yet, what does it matter what the words say. They wont have any significance until you play the game. They're definately sound human well sub-human atleast but not like animals. Personally the song isn't my cup of tea so to speak but it might help once I can associate it with the game. The singing is definately in English. whether you call that singing of course is another matter entirely

Does anyone know any good websites to download the soundtrack from?

knowing game music songs they probably won't have any significance after you've played the game either :)

anyways I gather it's some kind of intro tune, probably for some fmv and I'd guess involving blitzball cos there seems to be some kinda commentary on. either that or it's some fighting tournament. kinda stupid to try and guess really :)

edit - oh yeah, I'm not sure about sites to download it from.. I got mine from a friend's ftp.. some guy came on IRC yesterday with an url (and proceeded to bash it just cos it's got uematsu on it and cos xenosaga uses live recordings), so if I see him again I'll see if I can get the url for ya again. don't hold your breath though cos he's not on often

Try WinMX or Morpheus, they're similar to Napster... I'd have to say Napster was the best for music, but these are the best I can find now.

I've tried out Morpheus.

It's a very decent program to work with.
I find it very handy to download and "share" files. :)

I also have bearshare, but I wouldn't consider it one of the best programs I've used lately.
Just trying to find a server/host is a hassle.. ;\

Before all of that though, I used to use Aimster.
It was very comparable to Napster IMO.
Unfortunately it is being shut down... :(

There's also BearShare (but it sucks considerably... worst file sharing prog. ever...), KaZaA (REALLY good. It has an option to find more sources for your d/l, which can speed things up a lot... KaZaA is the only file sharing program from which I got speeds upwards of 100 k/s...), eDonkey2000 (eh... it's not bad. I can find almost ANYTHING on it, but the speed is a little slow...), iMesh (sucks), and Direct Connect (works like mirc, sort of... but DC is generally better for movie files than for music...)

If you want my opinion, try KaZaA ( www.kazaa.com ). I've been able to find almost anything on it... even episodes of "Friends"... although I can't recall why I was looking...

Well put simply; Spyware is a term referring to programs which spy on your computer. Once installed the program secretly sends information about your computer back to its creators without you knowing. Gozilla for example sends off something like a 32k file every so often. The information of course may vary a little but I'd suspect that in most cases its just things like what sites you go to with Internet Explorer.
