New info at the GIA revealed that KOS-MOS will be the most important female lead in xenosaga, and that chaos will be her counterpart (read:possible lover). the GIA speculates that this could be the beginning incarnations of fei and elly! Could the zohar engine have gotten the personalities for elly and fei (uh, later integrated into abel when he dies the first time).
That's really creepy, the more I look at KOS-MOS (her illustration is up now) the more she looks like elly. also, it's official that her name is NOT KOS-MOS(it's her profile, a KOS-MOS android), so wouldn't be equally freaky if they name her "elly"?
One more thing I noticed, take a look at KOS-MOS (until her name is revealed, this is what I'm calling her) statistics. Aren't those the EXACT statistics for emeralda!? another reference to elly (emmy's her daughter, case you forgot:)
Should this worry us though? as the GIA stated, the possibility of chaos and KOS-MOS being the first fei and elly kinda screws up the continuity of episode 5. could it be that by "reseting" the series the director plans to make it like episode 5 never happened!? or will there just be some slight altering (maybe even a possible remake of episode 5 that includes the stuff left out)?
I would definetely be dissapointed if fei,elly and the others were written out of existence, but since the game already has more than enough references to xenogears(zohar,20XX,uzuki) I remain confident everything will be made clear upon completion, and we'll all be treated to sion,KOS-MOS,and chaos burn into space debris by the games ending :(
So, please reply with your thoughts, including if you agree that KOS-MOS is seriously awesome looking (elly+rei+ghost in the shell) ^^

sigh... I think people are taking some of these things too seriously. ALL forms of human life in Xenogears were a result of Zohar and Deus. Meaning, there is no contact in Xenosaga, there is no antitype in Xenosaga, there is no Miang in Xenosaga, and there is no relation between Citan and the main character. I'm not expecting this thing to be as close to Xenogears as many as you think, atleast based on info from PW that I've read. Although I suppose things could change :D

Hope they can explain why The Contact got different names each generation, while Elly is always... Elly... now that's creepy... same name for 10 thousand years...

My god...people are either ignorant, or just plain STUPID! Xenosage WILL NOT explain anything about Fei's or Elly, or even why their names changed for that matter! Episode 1 HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. Episode 1 takes place THOUSANDS OF YEARS BEFORE FEI. I do belive that Abel may make a SHORT APPEARENCE as well as the Original Elly and Miang near the end of the game since they are introduced at the end of episode 1.

I think the latest information is that Xenosaga will have nothing to do with Xengoears... :P It's supposed to be another six-episodes story.

First of all, I'd like to note that GIA is siting NO references during this 'press release' of theirs... while this doesn't mean that their information is correct or incorrect, GIA does have a habit of posting pure rumors about information. Try to keep that fact in mind when you are dealing with any gaming news site. ^_^
And while you can expect many similarities to Xenogears... really, it doesn't do any good to read that deeply into the game at this point. Depending on now Namco is going to work with the game, they may be like Chrono Cross and add in references to Xenogears just to have them, to make the games look similar. (Sorry folks... while Chrono Cross had its own good points, it could very easily have been its own independent game. ^^)
Right now, speculation is going to be just that... wild speculation. ^_^ We don't know enough of the standard details of the game to really comment on things. Now, as for the character designs... eh, the Rei Ayanami design has never done much for me. I can understand why its POPULAR... after all, what normal guy doesn't want a girlfriend who is essentially an emotionless doll that they can do whatever they want with?
Now, Shion on the other hand... probably a much more interesting type of character. If you want to draw similarities to Elly, that is the character I'd start with... certainly her outfit is very similar to the female Gebler uniform. And given her description so far, she sounds like a more intelligent, studious character... and probably the type who is obsessed with her work and not really paying attention to any silly things. Like men.
Gee, look who's making assumptions now.  Ah well...
Also, one last comment for Andvari... although Emeralda was created by Kim and Elly, she is still genetically their daughter... the only different being that she is made out of nanites, and possibly the color of her hair.

The info was taken from Namco's recently opened Xenosaga website, so all the info is correct.
