It's mostly various cut-scenes... TONS of voice acting...but I don't understand a word of Japanese, so I didn't mind... Heh.

Yeah, well, I just forced myself into watching it, anyway. Really nice. Luckily, I couldn't understand a word of it, so there really weren't any spoilers...
although
spoiler:was that Citan I saw? If so, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense... otherwise, it's certainly a freaky coincidence... oh, well, don't answer that question, one way or the other... like I said, I like to surprised...
It looks pretty amazing, graphically (though the exteriors of the spaceships don't look that great, actually...). And that swordfight looked amazing...

That is exactly what I'm talking about. Ergh, I was psyched to hear that there was going to be a prequel back when some of the first news was revealed about it. But by the time the first few screens were released .. I lost all intrest. None of the characters were appealing to me at all. The few good designs they had for a few of the characters was ruined due to the fact that they looked no older than 10.
And what's with the game beginning with an opening scene set in Kenya on Earth in 2000 something? That really sucked the last of my intrest away.
Even after saying this, I know I'll still play the game. Err ..why even argue with myself then?

And yet, you liked Xenogears? May I remind you, XG had some of the ugliest character sprites ever produced. And they were all very "cartoony", aswell...

I started playing RPG's with Chrono Trigger, actually. And I still think Xenogears' character sprites were ugly. The face portraits may have been well made, but the sprites still looked ugly to me.
Xenosaga's facials look to me like the average anime characters'. Which I like.

Agreed. From far away, the sprites looked fine. But up close, they were pieces of crap, literally. But, the artwork in the game was godly, I loved every single portrait... cept' for Childo of course. Ewww...
And Xenosaga doesn't look that bad, although Shion could be just a LITTLE more serious looking. She has a strangely happy look on her face...

First, "Hyuga" could be just some generic battlecry. Secondly, I love Xenogears's 2D characters than Xenosaga's 3D models. The 2D characters in XG looks much more mature and stylistic than the 3D models in the XS trailer, which looks like some generic plastic dolls (okay I'm a huge fan of anime, so tha't may be partly the reason why I love XG and Lunar series). I'd bet the 3D engine Xenosaga based on is just a mediocre one. Anyway the graphics is nowhere close to impressing me. But the game looks kinda interesting, however I really doubt the reason for those fans who think the graphics in the trailer is fabulous... It's not that great even when compared to second generation PS2 games, or PC games two years ago. I personally will play XS for the story rather than the graphics for sure.
Oh, the animation are quite okay I guess, very fluid, so that's one good point :D

Well, I dunno. I like the game's graphics, so I suppose I'll just enjoy it that much more. But then again, I didn't like XG's sprites, and I still consider it the best game I've played. So in conclusion, I guess graphics don't actually matter at all to me...
"Hyuga", a battle cry? I slightly doubt that. I mean, you'd think the writers wouldn't take a scene with a character who looks remarkably like Citan, and use the word "Hyuga" in it, while not referring to him. Unless they're just trying to tease us...
which is pretty possible.

Personally, I think he might be Citan, and that somehow he manages to survive up until Episode 5. Don't ask me how, it's probably not even true. See, I just think that in Ep. 5 "Hyuga" uses the name "Citan", because Citan was the name of someone (an old friend) he knew back in Ep. 1 (Perhaps Shion's father...).
But this is all just random speculation...

In regard to the swordfight scene, I wonder if the player actually controls that? I hope this doesn't turn into another Final Fantasy VIII where it's more of a movie than a game. :/
