Reading around the internet i've stumbled across many different theories as to stuff that goes down...such as the creation of Weltall...
On one site I read that Weltall was created by Id around 4 years before the story began...but some friends of mine and I have argued about how Weltall was really created, coming to a conclusion of how can Xenogears be legendary when in theory it was created only 4 years ago
Even if I go to hell I will live till the end of the world and if the world does not come to an end I will destroy it with my own hands!

Xenogears wasn't created 4 years ago, it was created at the moment when Weltall-2 contacted Zohar, causing it to transform into Xenogears.
Weltall was built in Kislev, with a frame supplied by Grahf and Solaris. It was meant to be another copy of Weltall, for Grahf's minion Id. It was obviously created a few years ago, since Id used it to annihilate Elru, but is somehow made it's way back to Kislev where it was stolen.

Wouldn't it make more sense that Weltal was made (almost entirely) by Solaris since the one time we see it pre-Lahan is in the Elru incident? And since the other gears present where Solaran and not Kislev it would make sense thatSolaris had complete control of the mission. After Kahn seals Id and hides Fei would be a far more opertune time (after createing an 'off' mode) to give the gear in a more striped down state to Kislev. Since the gear was refered to as a new experimental model (and I think the word prototype was used once) by Kislev it couldn't have been very old. Tacticaly it was wiser of Solaris since it allowed Fei to repair his gear while in Lambland and prevented Kislev from learning Solarin technology... I think.:)
