Hey boys and girls.
Well I bought Xenogears about a week ago, and I just beat it recently. Very good game. Story was incredible, but it was rounded out with a fun combat system too.
I just have a few questions.
Does anyone know where Deus came from, why the colony ship was carrying it, and what it's original purpose was(what did they want to destroy?)
Fei is described as a 'contact' throughout the story. What makes you a 'contact'? Is it a DNA thing? Is anyone else in the game a 'contact' or just Fei? Lacan?
Grahf is a spirit that inhabits bodies in order to live forever. He was once Lacan. He stole bodies throughout time, eventually gaining control of Kahn's body. Assuming this is all correct, how did he gain this power of seperation ? I know that Lacan was looking for the ultimate power, to create god with his own hands. This explains Grahf's flying down and imbuing bosses with 'the power'. Is this how he lost his body? I'm confused to hell!
What did you think of the ending FMV? I personally didn't like it as much as I thought I would. It seemed too disney and happy. I wanted to know how they would rebuild the world and how everything would be put back together, I wanted closure. Anyone else feel like me?
Also, do you think the ending gives in to the idea of some kind of judeo-christian God? The way Krillan speaks there is interesting, the Walk with God thing. Also, damn it, what was inside the explosion again ? Also what confused me was that floating blue light, the essance or something like that. What exactly was it's purpose again ? I know it talks to Fei, and encourages him, but what IS it ? Also, Fei talks to Krillan at the end, and fights this thing. What is it that he fights? And where does it come from ?
I read somewhere about Sigmund and Bart having something going on ?? I never noticed anything like that at all! I was wondering at what parts were you seeing this kind of relationship.
Was it true that Xenogears was cut short in terms of completion?? Does anyone know what kinds of things they planned to put in the game? I know that Elly's Omnigear is in the battling arena, and it's pretty sweet, but other than that, the second disk almost seemed to go by too fast.
Still EXELLENT story. Wow... my biggest shock was when I found out that Grahf was in Fei's father's body.
I'm sorry that I'm pushing this all onto you guys, after all, you've probably fielded all these questions a million times. But thanks a lot for reading and listening. Now I have to go buy CC, god damn it. Too expensive!

Deus was created as an interplanetary weapon system. During a test run, it went out of control and destroyed it's creators planet so they dismantled it and headed to a new world.
The contact has to be a reincarnation of Abel, the original contact. The only contacts in the game are abel, kim, lacan and fei.
Lacan found Zohar, which gave him 'the power'. Eventually, he was executed, but by then his will 'grahf' split from him and took over other people's bodies as hosts.
I thought the ending was perfect, cept that we could have gotten more dialogue in the second sequence.
That blue light thing is the wave existence, the real god of xenogears, the one krelian says he's going to go be with.
No comment on the Sigurd-Bart thing.
Yes, Xenogears was cut short because of time and budget problems, and the fact that they needed people to work on ff8.
I think that answers all the questions, for more clarifity, go to Myaru's site and my site, http://xenoquarters.xenogears.org
"Have you ever been in love?" Kissoon replied. "Yes I think so." "Then you've been to Quiddity twice. Once the first night you slept out of the womb. The second occassion the night you lay beside the woman you loved. Or man was it?" He laughed. "Whichever." "Quiddity is the sea." "Quiddity is the sea. And in it are islands called the Ephemeris." "I want to go there." Jaff breathed. "You will. One more time you will." "When?" "The last night of your life. That's all we ever get." -Exerpt from The Great and Secret Show by Clive Barker

first of all allow me to point and laugh at you Wraith "Ha ha"
A lot of your question are difficult for even us people who've finished the game 3 times or more.
Origins of Deus- Check out the post with a similar name
Fei's role of the contact has already been explained by Myaru so I wont bother repeating what she said
My interpretation of Grahf is that basically is that following the death of Sophia, Lacan's mind split in much the same way as Fei's persona split creating ID. On one side you had Lacan who was the equivilent to the Coward persona whilst on the otherside you had the more destructive side of his persona ie Grahf. Now my theory is that each Contact has a part of his psyche set up to handle and access the powers each contact receives and that part of the psyche is the part which handles all the more dominant drives, desires and emotions. There are several theories as to how Grahf passes on his persona from host to host but perhaps the most dominant one is that he does it the same way Miang passes on her conscioussness from host to host.
The ending: I loved it apart from the horrendous dubbing. Almost everything is tied up, I wouldnt call it a Disney ending either as Myaru said most of the population is dead. Krelian got what he wanted at the expense of all those people so I wouldnt say it's happy at all, however atleast Fei, Elly and everyone else are free from Deus and can now go on with their lives. I dont think we really needed to see much more beyond what they did . Perhaps during the credits they could have showed clips of what the characters did after the game ie Citan looking for an alternative power source for Gears, Maria visiting her father's grave etc. Beyond that I'd leave it as is.
I'll assume that by the blue floating light you mean the wave existence and not Krelian's face. If you mean the latter Krelian was inside Deus and that's why you saw him there. If you're talking about the former, the game quite clearly explains that the Wave existence is the origin of all life in the 4 dimensional universe in which Xenogears takes place. I view the wave existence as being a higher form of conscioussness, whether you want to call it God and associate it as such is entirely up to you. When people talk about God to me I always see a man with a beard sitting on clouds which I think is laughable but thats just me. Basically in the beginning all life was supposedly one and then some of the conscioussness from the Wave existence spilled over into the other universe and gave birth to life. What Krelian wanted to do was rejoin the wave existence and make everything one again.
BTW I think you are referring to Sigurd (Bart's brother not Sigmund)
Xenogears was originally going to have a more developed second CD but the project dragged on more than Square wanted it to so they cut the budget and told the team to finish up.
Yes totally useless ha ha chase after it boy a love thats unattainable no matter how hard you pursue it.

Well, you have a few options here...
1) Play the game again. Almost all of your questions are answered in the game.
2) Read through Guardian Angels - especially the timeline in the spoiler section. (http://guardian.leamonde.net) Reading through all the threads in this forum might also be of some help.
Below are summarized answers to your questions... all of this is better explained on GA, in more depth, or in the other threads in this forum.
Deus: Deus is part of a weapon system created on the Eldrige (the other two parts were created on earth). The Eldrige was carrying it because earth could no longer house the human race (why it couldn't is still in debate...)
Grahf: Grahf didn't care about creating God - that was Krelian. Grahf wanted to destroy the world and end the cycle of the Contact and Anti-type. As to how he transcends bodies... there are theories on this in this forum, but the truth is currently unknown to most.
The Contact: The Contact is Abel and his future incarnations - they were infused with the power of Zohar, and became the Wave Existence's pawns in the game to be released from his cage. Abel/Kim/Lacan/Fei is the only Contact.
Ending: The ending wasn't as happy as you seem to think... in fact, it always makes me rather sad. The world has been screwed, only a small percentage of humans have survived, and it's up to seven people to rebuild everything. That's trite? ^.^ They were happy about the fact that Fei and Elly were safe and free of Deus... but that's all there is to be happy about.
Other stuff: The "floating blue light" was the Wave Existence (the thing inside Zohar, basically), also concidered "god" in Xenogears - and yes, this is true, if you read Krel's PW profile. And the idea of God... Heh, the entire game passes that idea off, not just Krelian's speech. Fei fought Urobolus - the essence of the Miang gene that kept the cycle going and allowed Fei, Elly, and Miang to be reborn. Longer story to that, but too long for a summary.
Sigurd and Bart: What you're referring to is a product of the Japanese game. It's also quite popular with yaoi fans (obviously).
Ja mata.

When I see your concern, Sig, I just can't stand in the shadow anymore and have to abandon the spectator mode to recomfort you: The 3 times I replayed the game, I didn't notice anything "gay" with Sig... And the last time replaying it, I knew the rumour, and was even trying to catch some clues about it... I haven't... Hence I draw my conclusions! :)
Oh, and Wraith.. CC isn't hardly as good as Xeno imho... The game feels a bit too childish, and the story somewhat "lacks" until like the last 5 hours of gameplay... Use the time to replay Xenogears... You won't regret :))
