I've just spent the last 10 minutes debating in my head whether or not I should put this post in the Lahan forum but this is partially associated with the storyline so I decided on here.
A short while ago I came into contact with a URL for the following site http://ffomega.com/xg / . The layout is very impressive but not as impressive as the information contained within the site. Unfortunately it is not fully open yet but some of it is already completed at the following URL http://xg.ffomega.com/perfectworks/timeline/04000/index.html
Most of the information seems accurate but there is a lot more here then I've seen on other sites. Take a look and let me know what you all think.
Some of the more interesting points include Ravine being referred to as an anti government group and not a location as some of us believed. The site goes on to say that Kim became associated with the group and that Kim also had ties with Miang. The site also claims that Tora built the Mass Driver system as part of the space program but later it was taken over by the military. What do all of you make of this information?

You call that impressive layout?? :( *sigh*
As a graphic designer, I went out to see what's so godly about it... and got disapointed...*all your fault!* :((

I like the layout, it may not be one of the best of all time but its better than most Xenogears sites I've seen. In any case if you can do better I'll be happy to take a look.

Speaking of layouts... I've been into inserting "Xenogears" elements into mine lattely... Like, in this layout we can see a gear: http://forums.xgamers.com ... Scary stuff, eh?? And here http://www.xgamers.com we can see Elly's face from PW cover...... And in here http://xgamers.com/images/headlines/187_long.jpg we can see the button that was on main site few weeks ago for a RPG article, though I'm not sure they ever mentioned Xeno in there..... So, where do you insert Xenogears images today? :))

That is so cool how you changed the color of the scroll bars. Is that done through dynamic html or some other language?
BTW...since you're a graphic designer...(which is something I plan to major in when I hit college this fall)....what programs do you use and what all stuff do you do? If you don't mind me asking... ^^;

I'm not sure about what color changement you are talking, but most of "interactive" things are done via dhtml/css... The sites themselves are driven on php-based SQL-compilent database, running on a Solaris box.
The programs I use: Photoshop, Photoshop, and Photoshop currently at version 6.0... Photoshop is currently the only package that fully satisfies my needs, and allows me to create just about any effect I can imagine... Recently I even managed to take a photo and turn it into an anime-like picture. Needless to say, don't accept cheap immitations to Photoshop (PHP users must be hang upside-down and molested)... Other programs I use on rare occasions are:
Corel Bryce 4.0 Corel Poser 4.0 Corel Painter 5.0 Strata Studio Pro 2 Specular LogoMotion 2.0 MetaCreations Infini-D 4.0 (discontinued product)
also, I have installed KPT 3, 5, and 6 and Alien Skin Eye Candy 3.0 PS plug-ins, but I barelly touch them nowadays....
I don't use any vector based applications (except Flash 4.0) for the simple fact that vector-based graphics aren't my style, and if I end up needing vector-like effects, they can be very simply imitated in PS... The only thing they lack is full scalability...
Anyway.. Hope that helped :(

It's a good looking site and has a lot of potential, I've seen the walkthough portion and it's very good. Of course, most of us won't bother checking that part out. The part I'm interested in is PW of course :) Let's just hope that he's telling the truth and has a good translation going, unlike some liars (Xenoetone for example). Although some of that stuff is confusing. Like 2 Miangs!? They even got the number wrong on it, the Miang during the Zeboim period was #661. As for Ravine... I guess I was wrong on that. They never really explain in the game whether its a group of a country...
"Have you ever been in love?" Kissoon replied. "Yes I think so." "Then you've been to Quiddity twice. Once the first night you slept out of the womb. The second occassion the night you lay beside the woman you loved. Or man was it?" He laughed. "Whichever." "Quiddity is the sea." "Quiddity is the sea. And in it are islands called the Ephemeris." "I want to go there." Jaff breathed. "You will. One more time you will." "When?" "The last night of your life. That's all we ever get." -Exerpt from The Great and Secret Show by Clive Barker

Even though this is a an old post, I'll reply to it anyways. That page referred by DarkSabre is quite old. I've done massive improvement and polishes since then. Plus that page was featuring my old and somewhat cumbersome layout ;).
I don't know why but the timeline states that Miang awaken in 6053 as twin sisters (M0611 and M0612).
Raveny was indeed an anti-government/terrorist organization. From the Zeboim timeline, it was stated that they were responsible for regional bombings, one of which was the hospital where Kim/Elly worked at.
Miang entrusted Kim with his nanotechnology research such that she provided and funded him with his own special research facility. Why? So she can utilize the nanotechnology to repair the "gene defienciency" syndrome that plagued human at that era. The title of the timeline itself was called "Expectation of Nanotechnology / Miang's Plan".
Instead of wiping out the entire civilization and starting anew, nanotechnology could repair the defect and artificially excel human's evolution.
Of course Kim had an alterior motive. Later Raveny came in contact with Kim (Raveny was interested in using Kim's research as weapons) and Miang eventually finds out about Kim's other intention (creation of soul vessels, i.e. Emeralda). Miang ordered the military to seize the facility and have both Kim and Elly killed...she then proceeded with the Human Reset Plan which was disguised as a nuclear war. She basically manipulated the prime minister of each sovereign nation into becoming enemies with each other until a large scale nuclear war broke out.
You can see part of this explained in the TV Studio at the Zeboim city under the lighthouse.

Wow, what I told Irwin was right. Go figure. ^.^ (And yes, I really am surprised about that. The effort I put into deciphering that era is somewhere down in the negative digits, comparatively.)
Does it say anything about how the "twin effect" influenced Miang at all? Or rather, I guess I should ask... are you absolutely sure of it? I just had a crazy story idea (which I am definitely not going to write) that utilizes that claim, but it's... frightning. I'm not sure I want to follow it anymore... ^^

Yup, that's exactly what the timeline said. . The timeline was the only area that touches on the Miang twin factor (M0611 & M0612). I have NO idea why that was put in the first place, nor if it have any significant value.
Direct translation of 6053: The first two kanji together means "Twin", the two kanji after hiragana 'no' means "Sister"...katakana Miang... and the last two kanji characters means "Awakening or awakens". So... rearrange the sentence from Japanese subject-object-verb format to English subject-verb-object and you have:
6053 - Miang awaken as twin sisters (M0611 and M0612)
According to the Zeboim timeline and informations, Raveny played a HUGE role in that era. I mean it's huge. Also, the Chu-Chu species was born as the result of the BC war (biochemical) and after the collapse of the Zeboim Civilization. Cool or what?

hmm... any idea what MO611 and MO612 means? Cause PW says in Miang's profile that Miang 0660 I believe is the one alive during that era, so it can't be the Miang #... @_@

Nope, there are nothing informative pertaining to 0611 & 0612. I forgot to mention that Taura did not invent the Mass Driver; it was a mistranslation. What it actually said was something in to this line: " The Mass Driver facility was invented in the Zeboim era, used as a propellant machine to launch objects off the ground. It was mainly used by the military to launch rockets, however, other objects were sent to distant destination through the means of the Mass Driver. In the game, the Mass Driver was used to launch nanomachines invented by Taura". Keep in mind I translated the draft version of the History chapter (chp. 1) so long ago. The informations found on that page was taken from my draft translations, word for word, a little proof read prior to posting for readability -- but the information was still 'draft' informations.
As some of you may know, I've come a long way from that and have polished the entire chapter I translation. It is pretty safe to say that the new Chapter I translation is roughly at least 97.00% accurate.
The polishment of the Characters chapter is almost done..

Ahhhh, I remember this site. It's a direct translation, and a fairly good one. It might have been nice if he/she had... what's the word... well, just written it a bit better, I guess. It's dry reading... although that's the only really annoying thing about it.
(And "Tora"... I suppose it's possible that it could be the same person, but I've never seen indication of that anywhere.)

I disagree with the tora creating mass driver thing, by tora you mean melchoir right? Because it sya that the mass driver is from the zeboim age directly in the game, i think.

Have a look at the site, it says that he built it as part of Zeboim's space program. How old is he anyway? I would have assumed the guy grew up in the Lacan era with him being maybe 30 years older or something.
It also mentions the awakening of Miang's twin sisters in 6053 do you know what the hell this means? This occurs two years before Elly and Kim are born so it's not talking about Elly. Who/what are they?

This is why I say not to take anything at face value. But don't just dismiss it out of hand, either... This person's translation is decent from what I've seen (I'm avoiding checking it all out for now because I don't want to risk seeing it before I finish correcting my history pages), but that doesn't mean it's infallible. I'd bet money there are mistakes in it, because fan translations just aren't perfect.
Hell, even professional translations aren't perfect. Anyone here played the FFA version of Final Fantasy V? ^.^
So just use your head, make your own opinions... and if we're lucky, we'll find another translation sometime soon, that can give us a sort of "second opinion". ^_^

Nope, but I did played the fan translation, and it was "okay", so i assume the professional translation must be somewhat "a bit better than okay"... er..maybe?.. :)

Umm. ^^
Faris had a /pirate accent/. Now, this is probably just my opinion, but I found that incredibly annoying and pointless. It didn't fit with her character at all, from my experience with the rom.
You know how some games have a dragon-like monster called a "wyvern"? I'd say that's a well-accepted translation, considering it's actually a mythical beast. Well, in here, they translated it as "Y-burn". Incidents like this were scattered all over the place. Dialog was terrible.
Those are the two most annoying factors to /me/, but overall, it just struck me as an inconsistent translation. Square certainly didn't waste any money on it.

Ya, that Faris translation was really cheap, Myaru. It bothered me so much that I just gave up on the game. (I just got to the part where you go to the Wind Shrine at the beginning.)
