I remember reading alongtime ago that Emerelda was actually out of her nano-reactor for a year or two so I have to ask the question "Why was she in there?" As far as I can tell there are only two conceivable reasons. Firstly it could be that her body was in some way damaged. Perhaps she was taken out of there in the first place before she had been finished and if she remained out she'd die. Maybe since she was being hunted by the state, she got fatally wounded and that was the only place they could save her life. Finally it's possible that Kim knew that Zeboims demise was imminent so he took her there knowing it was the only place he could take her where she might survive.
Anyone else have information on this or theories. I'd like to hear them

Hmmm...I always had the impression that Kim and Elly put here there again to hide her or protect her when the soldiers came. *shrug*

Hmm... I don't think she left it until you get there, although if she did, Elly and Kim probably put her back in there before the Zeboim troops came to take her.

Neither Xenogears nor Perfect Works mentioned anything about Emeralda leaving her nanoreactor. The nanoreactor is where all the nanomachine colonies were safely stored. Safely meaning contamination-wise. When you went to the Zeboim city underneath the Ethos Dig Site and activated the reactor, the dormant nanomachines in the nanoreactor sprung to life. In addition, the reactor interfaced with Kim's terminal which stored the structure of life:
Citan: ...It is well hidden... In the data gaps... No... 'flee'?... ...'with my own will'... What is this?... Is this a wild computer? No, a structural record of life... No, not that... An organism...
The nanomachines assembled a lifeform based on the structural record of life stored on Kim's computer. This was Kim's original intention, the soul vessel, an artificial lifeform that can harbor human souls.
Citan: This girl appears to be an artificial lifeform created inside the reactor. She was probably assembled in the reactor by using that series in the database in the control room... Her body is most likely...

I can't remember where I heard about this but after going over my notes on Perfect works from various sites I've concluded that she would have been out of the nano-reactor for about a year. This goes a long way to explaining why she called Fei, Kim. Think about it if she'd just been in the tube how would she know Kim. I dont think clothes would be a huge problem she'd just take them off when she went in the nano-reactor so that they dont get wet.

Like duh, the "nano-reactor" is actually her bed, you know, like how the Borg in Star Trek use there regeneration stations. Anywho, she probably was kept in there, and since the people who usually took care of her all died, well, no one woke her up :( Poor girl, no wonder she was strong, can you imagine sleeping for that long?
Mind you, I'm just trying to be stupid, and it's working out great, ne? ^__^
