Okay this is a stupid question but it is really bothering me. All along I thought the title was pronounced like Zen-o-gears with the e sound like den or pen. But someone told me it is pronounced Xeen-o-gears with the e sound like mean or seen. Please someone clarify this for me, because it would be a travesty if I have been mispronouncing my favorite game of all time for the last 3 years!

I think so long as you pronounce it consitantly with the word "xeno", it's okay
I pronounce "xeno" as "zee-no"
acording to dictionary.com, both pronounciations are correct.

Well, according to TNS, it was "zenogias".. Hehe jk :)
Seriously though, i'd say k'ze-no + the pronounciation of word gears (duh?).. Notice that my "e" is pronounced more like "ai" than standard english "e"...

While we are talking about it, how are you supposed to pronounce "mana" in secret of mana? Is it like Manah or Monah? I always say Monah.
I think Xenogears should be prounouced like Skenagers. j\k

Allz I know is that on the demo disc, the woman pronounces it like Zen-o-gears. Anyway, I've always pronounced it like that, same way as xenophobe.
And now I go back into the darkness...

Well, how do you pronounce the prefix "xeno" (as in "xenophobia", etc.)? It's the same. I assume that the pronounciation is "zeh-no-gears" - basically the way you pronounce it by reading the katakana. But I started out saying "Xee-no-gears" just like most other people I know. ^^

not that this matters but I switched up what I thought the pronounciation was. All along I thought it was Xeenogears, not Zenogears. Just wanted to clear that up.

I pronounce it Zee-no too. as in zee-no-biologist. I know 3 people (IRL) who've played the game and I was the one who introduced them to it, so thats the name which stuck.

Who cares pronounce it how you like. That's like haing called Deus (D-us) exactly how it looks. Even if the true meaning is pronounced different, pronounced it how you like. Xenogears is Z-no-gears. That's all you need to know.

Deus is actually pronounced Day-OOSE (as in gOOSE) in Latin; contrary to common assumption of 'doose', as in zeus.

If always said "Ksenogiars", but, since I'm Italian, I don't know how you read it. For that Deus things you have to read it as it is wrote(it's difficult to explain cause we Italian speel letters differently, and since we are descendants of the ancients latin people, I think that was the good way to speel; however in my latin lesson at school I've always spelled it that way);

Whoever pronounced Deus as "doose" must be shot for unbelievable ignorance and dorkiness... :(
Then again, for people who don't have linguistic knowledge in more than one language (and unfortunatelly, in our modern days we still have people like that) tend to have horrible pronounciation of simple foreign (or latin) wide-used words.... Anyway...
Then again, to go far in this life, all you must know of latin is Kostjanus Deum est. But then again, omnis homo mendax confiteor, so I might be just trying to brainwash you into my submission... You'll never know :)

But then some people pronounce Z as Zed whilst others pronounce Z as Zee. Zed-no gears sounds kinda funny.
I'd love to chat longer but I'm having an old friend for dinner. Bye

I've always pronouned it as 'zeen'. PW does have it down as 'ze', but that's most likely because 'zi' cannot be written in katakana.

That may be true, but ZI is attainable.
You simply pit an "i" after "ze". That makes it "ZI"
It's like when we put "s" & "h" together, and it becomes "shhhhhh..."
SHORT is pronounced "shawt", not "s - hawt".

it's screwy but it works

I believe it is pronounced ZE-NOW-GIAR-C. Because that is how I was taught to pronounce names and that's the only thing my friends and I could agree on.
The end is only a new beginning.
