Ok now why did the captain evacuate the ship? Hum doesnt make sense to me. From the looks of babel tower the town didnt look damaged at all.
Also how did Cain and the Gazel lose control of the people during the Zeboim age. Did they give the people to much information on the past. But it doesnt look like Cain or the Gazel had knowledge of the Eldridge they thought it was god(dues).
Hmmm, then how did the people of Zeboim know about the Eldrdige.
Wait mind making a theory... Aha! Duh! The Etones. The people of Zeboim didnt have an organization to filter out the history of the human race. Solaris created the Etones so that what happend in Zeboim wouldnt happen again. What happen in Zeboim being that they excavated the parts left over of the Eldridge so they knew the true past and that Deus was not their "god". Ah also contributing to Miang destroying them.
Wait then why doesnt Shevat have that inforamtion... They werr living right on the Eldridge... Maybe that explains their technology though. And why Solaris wanted them controlled becasue they knew too much...
My love for Xeno has been reborn!
Have a rainy day!

The Captain deliberately evacuated the Eldridge so he can self-destruct the Eldridge. Why? Because Omega One (Deus) took over the entire ship and is planning to make a trip to Old Jerusalem, commonly known as Mother Earth; aka "coordinate codes NX128EZ061, the main planet".
Old Jerusalem was considered a sacred planet to all mankind in the late T.C. era.
It all returns to nothing. It all comes tumbling down tumbling down tumbling down.

The 'Ethos' was made to spread false religon on the surface, and to prevent another upstaging like that which happened 500 years ago from occuring again. It was formed after the Solaris-Shevat war, and had nothing to do with Zeboim.

Ok you just covered about a dozen points here. I'll do my best to answer them with speculation and educated guesses.
Firstly they evacuated the Eldridge because firstly it was a hostile entity quite capable of killing the crew which it did a good job of doing with the defence grid. The crew were the only opposition to Deus so killing them before they shut him/it down seemed to be a logical course of action. The way Deus was taking the place over it would only have been a matter of time before it gained control of life support and shut it off.
Next I dont recall us knowing that Cain or the Gazel were involved with Zeboim. It would make perfect sense but as far as I can recall we only knew about Miang working behind the scenes. The odds are that Zeboim did do excavations to uncover the lost technology and that's why they had Gears and such. My guess would be that some of the Eldridge stuff would have been kept secret but not as much as they wanted hence the notes in the ruins.
You're theory about the Etones being created to control the past more efficiently makes perfect sense.
As for Shevat maybe a lot of the information there was taken during the Zeboim era. Based on the words of the elders it would seem that they only know small fragments wrapped up in fables.
Finally during the 500 year war, the main interest Solaris seemed to have was dumping Miang on them. My guess behind this is that Solaris didnt have facilities appropriate for holding her. At the time Shevat was on an island and could have her put in carbonite freezing. The truth of course is that Solaris would much rather control Shevat and even tried invading it on atleast one occassion. They only came up with that deal 500 years ago so that they could end the war quickly and efficiently. Hope all this helps.
I'd love to chat longer but I'm having an old friend for dinner. Bye
