When humanity made Deus, they dipped into the skills they had gained from the Tree of Knowledge. By harnessing the power of the Zohar and Deus with their skills in science they were, to swipe a notion from Eva, trying to create the fruit of the Tree of Life artifically.
Anyone who's seen the Eva movie knows what happens when you try to do that. n.-

According to me Deus was saying that the humans were gods cause they after all created it, but Deus think that he is more powerfull than humans and it is likely sad for this. It's like a novel of Asimov, where a robot think that robots have created humans and not the contrary cause "he" is more resistant, he don't need food and other things like this(now I don't remember the title).

If you look in Genesis (as someone has already said), then you will find the direct quote - "... and you shall be as gods." Considering that Deus opposes the WE, which is the essence of "god", don't you think that Deus might symbolize the Devil?
That's my take on it, anyway. And I don't know if the quote is always the same - translations differ, of course.

From a theolgical standpoint it could be a play on the Serpant (Lucifer) tempting Eve at the Tree of Knowledge (Yggdrasil). Lucifer told Eve that if she and Adam would eat its fruit they would not die, as God had told them, but the would be as God is. So it is just another Biblical refrence.

Interesting thought! In fact, the Gazel mention a few times that they will bocome gods with the reserection of Mahannon, so in a way, they are "the fallen", the Eve who will take the apple and bring ruin.
Although, I never did understand how wisdom could corrupt paradise.

Another possibility is that Deus was referring to using humans as the template for his restoration. In other words since he created humans to be absorbed into him they would become a part of him and in doing so would become part of God.

That was my initial assumption as well, but then I thought...did that apply prior to the Eldridge crash? It was only after the crash that system Hawwa was activated to revive the human race. It was at this point that they were 'designed' to be interfaces, right? I would think that the germination of humans into the mutant forms would not be a thing resulting from natural physiology, but the meddling of Deus during the species' rebirth.
Or it may be that Deus had, at the takeover of the ship, already decided to use modified humans to rebuild himself, thousands of years later when there would be enough of them. That's really planning ahead.

Well I was under the assumption that Deus was speaking to the Gazel (as organic elements) programming them to THINK they can be like gods, kind of like a false hope for them, a drive that can encourage them to obey him for whatever reason it had.
