Surviving the Crash
Since im fairly new to the board I dont know if this has come up yet. I was wondering if anyone had any theories on just how abel survived the crash, i mean, there were alot of people on the Eldridge that were killed and for some reason only one soul made it alive. Did the the WE have something to do with this? or is it just luck?
I'd appreciate everyones opinions.

In the opening movie of xg the very first scene of the ship this little panel slides open if you watch. I always assumed this was Abel being launched out in an escape pod right before the contamination began. Deus wouldn't start annihilating the ship while abel was still there.

That was actually where the colony was located.

I'm kinda on a limb here, but I'm pretty sure that with exposure to the Zohar (or the Wave Existence, either one) it allows a lengthened life-span and/or increased durability to harsh enviroments. Kinda makes sense, as the Wave Existence would need the Contact for his own purposes.
Wouldn't be very smart to have a weak kid who dies right away to be the key to your future, would it?

Anyone in bable would probably have died. The entire area was open to hard vacume. That will kill you very fast.
Even worse when you finnaly hit atmosphere the entire area inside would heat up to several thousand degrees. Those that somehow suvived the first would be burned to a cinder.
Then wait *SLAM!* the ship would carreen into the ground. Not many survive a car crash at 60 mph without seatbelts.......now at 300+ mph..... All that would be left is burned, decompresed, bloody smears. Only if they where specifically protected by WE could they survive. (or where in a machine that could fly....ie escape pods)

I'd have to agree with Raine's theory. The WE probably thought Abel was his last chance to ever gain his freedom, so he saved his life to serve his purposes.

But still, why was Abel chosen. Did he have the genetic code of a hero? or did WE chose a child so that he would start out pure through his transmigration. If the WE chose Abel over many others on the ship, there had to be something special about him, after all he suceeded in doing what the WE had saved him for.

It chose Abel, because Abel provided an oppertunity for it to allow it to use him as a way to free itself. Because Fei was run by strong emotions, the WE was able to determine a way to free itself, so it created Elly

I suppose that the WE would've protected Abel.. it's rather obvious that there're certain perks to being the Contact, and Abel was certainly at the height of his power then if ever.

You are also forgetting that the contact is nessary for Deus to resume full functioning. Likely both Deus and WE had incintive to keep the contact alive. One guess is that Abel was in an escape pod like the rest and was not shot down.
Another possiblity is that when Deus was funcioning Abel was combined with Zohar like Grahf was in the end. In such a case Abel was probably dumped when the Zohar Core was dumped. Likely if this occured WE would have teleported the boy to a safe location (after putting his body parts back in proper order).
If this is true it would explain Abel's lack of understanding when he was picked up in the desert.

I'm pretty sure that the only reason this is the case is because the WE 'contacted' Abel. Prior to that point, Deus had full access to the power (it DID destroy an entire planet on the test run, presumably without Abel). As for surviving, would the Eldridge crash have killed Id? Lacan at the height of his powers? It seems unlikely, and Abel already had that power at the time. Incidentally, why didn't Kim appear to have any special powers, aside from his brilliance with nanotechnology?

I also wondered about the fact that he was ejected with Kadamony out of the Eldridge and the energy being present possilble protected him or whatever. But it seems logical that he was ejected.
