I just recently beat xenogears the other day after slacking off on playing it. I noticed that at the very end of the game after you beat it the last screen you see reads the words...
-Episode V-
Why is that? Are there previous Xenogear titles like Final Fantasy? Or is it an actual anime story? Just curious.

Like other people said, the only other (unofficial) guesses on the future pre/sequels are in fanfics and the...comic book, or whatever.
The game holds some information on the past ones, but that's pretty vague, I'd suggest going to Guardian Angels instead ;)

It has to do with the time periodes of Xenogear:
Episode I is about Zohar and the creation of Deus.
Episode II is Abel's story
Episode III is Kim's Story
Episode IV is Lacan's Story
Episode V is fei's story
Episode VI is after Xenogears (not many details, from descriptions it seems to be mainly clean up)

Here you go:
Episode I - The discovery of the Wave Existance. Time period was renamed Transcend Christ.
Episode II - The crash of the Eldridge, creation of The Mother, and the meeting of the WE and Abel to form The Contact. (10,000 years ago)
Episode III - The Zeboim Era. They were wiped out by nuclear war when Miang saw they were unfit to raise Deus. (700 years ago)
Episode IV - The Diabolos War. The death of Sophia by th hans of Shevat, the defection of Krelian, and the beginnings of Grahf. (500 years ago)
Episode V - Xenogears
Episode VI - They aftermath of Xenogears.
Just watch XenoSaga suck...

Well its nice to know I'm not missing out on anything that is actually available.. :) I hate thinking the storys are avaiable somewhere and I havn't got em' ...actually the whole story lines
for every episode must be sitting somewhere.
They must be....
