What is Neo Jerusalem, I've been hearing a lot about it in Xenogears discussion. it sounds like a planet or something...

Yes, Neo Jersualem was the epicenter of the Federation. It was the planet found after humans left earth because of its environmental changes. I believe though never never returned back to it, rather it was sealed after they left.

"that wacky biblical symbolism..." , Fri 1 Jun 09:05 PM

Message #1421

hmm, i can take a shot at this. well, first of all the world (universe) of xenogears is ours in the very distant future. as i recall, the first planet that humanity settled on (after earth) was dubbed "neo jerusalem." later, when they tried to return to earth, they found it was impossible (i think because of a barrier of some sort). earth was no longer inhabitable, or even touchable, and was renamed "lost jerusalem."

i'm pretty sure that's it.

The Xenogears world isn't earth. It was just a 'passerby' planet whose gravity just happened to pull the Eldridge in :).

The planet Deus was aiming for

It all returns to nothing. It all
comes tumbling down
tumbling down
tumbling
down.

Actually the xenogears planet is not earth I think. I think Dues was about to open a warp to Earth but the captian blew the ship up before then.

weltall alpha, intangir - yeah, i know xenogears doesn't take place on earth...it was poor phrasing on my part. it's pretty obvious that the xg planet isn't earth, it has rings.

i meant "world" in a broader sense than planet...i.e., the planet of xenogears and earth are in the same reality. i was trying to say that xenogears takes place in an alternate future of our present day. the planet of xg is just some middle-of-nowhere planet that the eldridge crashed onto. as for the earth...maybe that'll be explained a bit more in xenosaga...

In that case, yes :). In fact, the Zeboim Civilization developed to a point where it was 'remarkably' similar to the real world of our world.

But in the distant future of Fei's world, that's another story. You can say life became more primitive from the days of Zeboim.

It all returns to nothing. It all
comes tumbling down
tumbling down
tumbling
down.

For anyone who doesn't know, New Jerusalem in the Bible is the prophesized place where everyone who have survived the Apocalypse will live forever happily after the Second Coming.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven.
