This is a question for Intangir. Who was it that initially raise the DIABOLOS. Was it the Gazel, Miang, or Grahf/Transformed Lacan. Or was it Grahf that took control of them and used them to take revenge on Shevat for the death of Sophia?

As you can see, a little clarification is needed...

I'm not instangir but I think it's generally agreed that it's Grafh/Mad Lacan who have released the Diabolos to kill the Gazel. Also i nthe game it's said that Diabolos comes after "he released that woman". He is referring to Lacan, that woman is referring to Miang. I think Myaru once wrote a short fanfic about the time when Lacan released Miang...

According to PW, it was Miang who manipulated Lacan into reviving the DIABOLOS. She used them as a tool for two reasons:

1.) Test their 'durability' in actual combat situations and see if they would outperform their expectations, considering they were developed 10,000 years ago. 'Course they failed.

2.) Since people are beginning to be able to harness the power of Ether, Miang used the DIABOLOS to test the 'quality' of mankind. At the same time, resetting humanity for the FOURTH time. Those who are strong with ether will be able to survive the onslaught of the DIABOLOS. These people (about 4% of the overall populus who survived) and their descendents will be deemed as the 'highest quality' in spare parts for Deus. Only such quality parts can be used to revive Deus.

I will stand by my original theory that these DIABOLOS corps are early versions of Seraph Angels. Their descriptions are just too close for comfort.
