"The awakening power..." , Mon 2 Jul 02:31 PM

WOW, I'll write an "oldstyle" post:
I was thinking: what gives the power to the contact? Abel, that come in contact with Zohar, hadn't the power of Id or the "true Fei" (we can remember him getting killed by Cain after Elly);
Kim had no power except for intelligence (that we can't consider a power gave by Zohar) and he didn't make contact;
Lacan got the power only after getting in contact with Zohar, when he was full of anger, and got splitted in Grafh and the good part thet continue with the urobolos ring;
Fei didn't make contact until about the end of Xenogears; he was quite powerful, but we couldn't compair it with Id, that was his secondary personality and got a desctrutive power even if he didn't met up with Zohar;

So the only things that people with power shared together was that they were bad!

And this make me wonder that after all Har wasn't interested in the destiny of the people of the nameless planet, but was going to return to his "homeland" using all his cards and destroying everything if possible, alligning himself with the "bad" side of people.

Another thing that come to my mind is that power wasn't trasmitted using the body (and the uroboros ring, that after all is a part of the DNA and so of the body), but through the mind; infact Id got the power, Fei no, even if they shared the same body (anyway it changed after being inbued with the awakening power).

Well, for now nothing more come to my mind, anyway I think I had made no mistakes.

I think that power is existing in the Contact's "soul", that during the first contact done by Abel, the power is already bestowed upon him. But the power is not always usable for the incarnation of the Contact. It is hidden inside the soul of the Contact, and normally needs to get activated by contacting Zohar again in their lifetime. However, sometimes certain "shadow personality" can utilize this power for some extent, when under extreme pain or pressure like Id. But as the game tells us, Id's power is far less than the true Contact's power. He also need to make contact with Zohar to fully utilize the hidden power.

Abel's lack of power is questionable. If he had an 'imperfect Contact' like Lacan did, then his power might be inferior to Cain's anyway (although one would think he could at LEAST put up more of a fight <g>). He didn't seem to have any special powers, or if he did, he didn't know how to use them.
Kim definitely doesn't seem to have any special powers, since he couldn't take on regular machine gun-armed soldiers. He never made direct contact with Zohar during the scenes shown in the game, and probably had no power at all. The memories only seem to be inherited here, although Kim never shows any recollection of Abel's life.
Lacan clearly has a great deal of power, or at least Grahf does. This is only AFTER re-contacting Zohar, and so his power is also not inherited directly. He's the easiest to explain, really.
Fei/Id have the same power level. Kahn tells Fei that the reason Grahf is stronger than him is because of the focus of Grahf's hatred. The same is true of Id, although, if anything, even more so. However, as a Full Contact, Id has more potential than Grahf. Fei would have equally powerful abilities if his focus was as strong as that of the other two.
But this begs the question, HOW does Fei have the same power? How does Id, for that matter. If the power is gained only after Contact is made with Zohar, he and Id would not have any exceptional abilities until the very end of the game, but they obviously do - piloting Weltall, the damage Id does in Weltall, Id's ability to fight Solaris gears at a low level, Fei using his infinity deathblow on Calamity, etc.
It seems to me that the initial contact between Abel and Zohar granted no power, but that the one between Lacan and Zohar DID. Power that was inherited in full by Fei/Id, and kept in part by Grahf.

do we ever find out if Kim fails to make contact with Zohar?

The WE said that after Abel made contact, he recieved it's power. So all of the reincarnations, of Abel including himself has the power, thats the will of the WE. I believe Abel , Kim, Lacan didn;t know that such a power existed in themselves. After Lacan made contact with Zohar, I believe the memories were tied together and Lacan realized he HAD power all along. Later after Grahf split, he also was abel to tap into this power that existed in him from Lacan.
For Fei, he also never knew. I believe every contact has no awarness of power until a contact with Zohar. But for Fei that is different. After ID was created, somehow he became aware of this power and this wasnt made known to Fei. I think ID became aware of this power after Miang did tests on Fei to draw it out by aligning him with people who are highly compatibly with the Anima substance. After ID gained control, he used this power for himself.

But actually, Fei ALWAYS was using his power, it is in the form of Chi. Fei believed this to be an ether power like everyone else had, but Fei's ther power is the WE's power, not from Zohar.

Fei somewhat knew he had power as shown through many talks throughout the game. He only knew he had great power he didn't know from where and how to use it me thinks.

-Peace to all those who come here. Fearing great calamity we sealed this legacy entrusting its fate to you.-
